* National Chamber hosts workshop on 'Import Procedures and Documentation' on February 28

Feb 22, Colombo: The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) will hold a one-day workshop on "Import Procedures and Documentation" with special attention on WTO Goods Valuation Agreement, WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) and Goods Classification and Harmonized System.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday 28 February 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the National Chamber Auditorium on D R Wijewardene Mawatha in Colombo.

Director of Customs Mr. T Raviendrarajah will be the resource person for the workshop.

The workshop is aimed for those involved in importing, buying and sourcing from overseas including sales, purchasing, production and accounts staff.

It provides an overview of the principles involved in successful importing, tips on how to avoid problems and ensure smooth running of contracts, profitably and gives practical information that will help protect your company's interests and maximize your opportunities in the international market.

Among the topics to cover in the workshop are Introduction to Imports, planning, International Trading, Sales Contract, Imports Restrictions, Terms of Sale, Incoterms, Payment Terms (including Letter of credit and Document Collections), Clearance of Commercial Cargo through Customs - Sea Cargo and Air Cargo, Clearance of Gift Parcels, Unaccompanied Passengers Baggage, Samples through Customs, Free Trade Agreements, WTO Goods Valuation Agreement , WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) Goods Classification.

Participants will have an understanding of the necessary skills to ensure due diligence, seek quotations and place orders efficiently, ensure correct documentation for customs clearance into Sri Lanka including VAT compliance and complete costing to ensure profitable trading.
