* Sri Lanka Minister Sagala Ratnayake decides to resign from law& Order portfolio

Feb 15, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Minister of Law and Order and Southern Development Sagala Ratnayake has decided to resign from his Law & Order portfolio.

Minister Ratnayake in his official Facebook post said he is prepared to do the best of his ability for the sake of the party.

Following is his statement:

"Short while ago, I informed the party (UNP) parliamentary group that I have no intention to retain as the Law and Order Minister further.

I informed the Prime Minister that I will not hesitate to sacrifice any position for the United National Party and I am prepared to do the best of my ability for the benefit of the party.

I further informed the party's parliamentary group that while this is a personal decision I take to strengthen the party at this time, my loyalty to the party will remain strong and I am ready to unreservedly perform any other duty in any other capacity given to me by the party leadership to serve the people."
