* Police security to continue today as well - Police Media Spokesman

Feb 11, Colombo: Police Media Spokesman, Superintendent of Police Ruwan Gunasekara said that police security units including mobile patrols, riot squads and roadblocks that were in operation yesterday for the 2018 local government election will remain deployed today (11) as well.

The Police had deployed over 65,000 police officers to provide security to the polling stations and maintain law and order near polling stations.

In addition, over 4000 Special Task Force (STF) Police and nearly 5900 Civil Defense Force have also been deployed.
