* President casts his vote at local government elections

Feb 10, Colombo: President Maithripala Sirisena cast his vote at Sri Vidyaloka Temple in Polonnaruwa, New Town today (10) for the Local Government Elections 2018.

The President who visited Sri Vidyaloka Temple in the morning, first called on the Chief Incumbent of the Temple Ven. Demunnewe Sri Uparathana Thero.

He engaged in religious activities before casting the vote.

Expressing his views to the media President Sirisena said that he will implement a broad development strategy to develop the village jointly with the newly elected representatives at this Local Government election.

The President said that he is pleased to know that the Local Government elections are being held in a free and fair manner under this new mixed electoral system.
