* LG elections voter turnout exceeds 75%

Feb 10, Colombo: The district Returning officers say by the end of the voting at 4 pm today, about 75 percent of the voters island wide have cast their votes at the local government elections.

According to the Returning Officers of respective districts, 80% of voters in Matale district, 75% in the Gampaha district , 60% in the Nuwara Eliya district, 80% in the Hambantota District and 75% in the Polonnaruwa District have casted their vote.

Also, 70% of voters in the Matara district. 80% in Kalutara District, 75% in Galle District, 78% in Kurunegala District, 60% in Ratnapura District, 70% in Kegalle, 85% in Anuradhapura district, 52% in Kandy district, 47% in Jaffna, 60% in Kilinochchi, 85% in Trincomalee District and 78% in Mullaitivu District have voted.

Meanwhile, voter turnout exceeded 80% in Moneragala district by 2 pm and 65% in Badulla district. While 65% of voters in Puttalam district, 70% in Mannar District, and 70% in Ampara District have voted according to the Returning officers of respective districts.
