Feb 03, Colombo: Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi extending warm felicitations to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on the occasion of 70th Anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka said he looks forward to working with his Sri Lankan counterpart to take the relationship between the two countries to a higher level.

"I look forward to continue working with you to take our relationship to higher levels, particularly in the economic sphere, for the mutual benefit of the people of our countries," Prime Minister Modi said in a message to Premier Wickremesinghe.

Following is the message in full:

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the independence of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, it gives me immense pleasure to extend warm felicitations to you and the people of Sri Lanka.

Relations between our two countries, anchored in our shared history and culture, have grown over the years to become truly multifaceted. It is our shared responsibility and aspiration to further strengthen these bonds.

Last year was marked by regular exchange of visits and extensive bilateral interactions which added momentum to our dynamic partnership. I look forward to continue working with you to take our relationship to higher levels, particularly in the economic sphere, for the mutual benefit of the people of our countries.

Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration and best wishes for your good health, personal wellbeing and the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Sri Lanka.
