It gives me pleasure to extend warm greetings and best wishes to you and to the people of Sri Lanka on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of your Independence Day.
India and Sri Lanka are neighbors, who share common heritage, interests and values. Our bilateral relations are based on age old civilizational links and have been built upon a legacy of close intellectual, cultural, religious and linguistic interaction. Recent high level visits have expanded the bilateral agenda to further enhance our relations in areas such as trade and commerce, culture, security cooperation, connectivity and people-to-people contacts.
I also take this opportunity to reiterate our support, as a close friend and neighbour, to your vision for Sri Lanka's future.
Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration and my personal best wishes for the continued well being and prosperity of the people of Sri Lanka.
