Apr 22, Colombo: A new full Cabinet will be sworn in next week, Minister of Health and the co-cabinet spokesman Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said.

The Health Minister made this statement addressing a ceremony held at the Panadura Divisional Secretariat Saturday to distribute equipment to 14 youth and women's societies in the Panadura Divisional Secretariat Division.

Expressing his views further, the Minister said the new cabinet has been prepared under a scientific study and a full cabinet will be sworn in. the list of the cabinet that has been prepared is scheduled to be sworn in after discussions with President Maithripala Sirisena when he returns from London.

"Thereafter, the government is launching a new program to take a forward journey targeting the next elections," he said.

The Minister said he suggested the two main parties to join and come forward together to contest the local government elections, but there were more pundits to teach the politics. Although the Prime Minister accepted his suggestion, the lawyers with the President had a different opinion. "That is why we received such a controversial result," he said.

Minister Senaratne also stressed that the Joint Opposition cannot win the 2020 elections. "They would not even get 50% without the Tamil and Muslim votes," he said adding that the current government will unite all the forcers and win all the elections.

"Since we have learned the lesson from the local government elections we will launch a proper program for the people. If we are divided we will lose. United we can win," he said.
