* Interpol red notice for Sri Lanka's former Central Bank governor

Apr 20, Colombo: Interpol has issued a red notice, a request to locate and provisionally arrest, Sri Lanka's former Central Bank governor Arjuna Mahendran who is a suspect of the Central Bank bond scam.

"International police today issued a red notice for former Central Bank governor Arjuna Mahendran related to the investigation by the police Criminal Investigation Department of the bond sale," police said in a statement.

Arjuna Mahendran, who is a Singapore national, and his son-in-law Arjun Aloysius are accused of manipulating bond auctions in 2015 and 2016, causing losses of over $11 million to the state.

The Colombo Fort Magistrate Court had issued a warrant for his arrest since Mahendran has failed repeated orders to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department to a record a statement.

Mahendran's whereabouts are currently unknown.
