* Heroin stock found in vehicle abandoned on expressway

Apr 11, Colombo: Police have found a parcel containing heroin in a car that had been abandoned on the Southern Expressway.

The police said the car was speeding on the Southern Expressway towards Matara exceeding the speed limit at Kaduwela at around 3.00 pm yesterday.

However, the car was found later abandoned on the expressway near the 6.9 R post, the police said.

Upon searching the vehicle, police officers found a parcel containing 56g and 100mg of heroin inside the car, which was handed over to the Athurugiriya Police Station.

The Athurugiriya Police is conducting further investigations to arrest the suspects tracing through the Vehicle Registration Number.
