* Six suspects arrested over the attack on Rohingya refugees

Sept 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police have arrested six suspects who behaved violently during a protest against the Rohingya refugees from Myanmar earlier this week.

The police says a female suspect was also arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division for unruly conduct.

The Colombo Crimes Division arrested a resident of Moratuwa in connection with the attack on the refugees yesterday from Bambalapitiya area.

The suspect was produced before the Mount Lavinia magistrate's court today and the Chief magistrate Mohammed Nihaim ordered the suspect to be produced before an identification parade on the 9th of October. The magistrate ordered the suspect to be detained until then.

A female suspect connected to the incident was arrested in Mount Lavinia this morning. She is also due to be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court later today.

Meanwhile, the Inspector general of Police Pujith Jayasundera told media that eight persons in connection to the incident have been identified from the video footage obtained from television news channels and the police will take these suspects into custody shortly.
