* Deputy Minister Arundika Fernando removed from post

Sept 12, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has removed Deputy Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Affairs Arundika Fernando with immediate effect.

"Deputy Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs Arundika Fernando has been dismissed from his portfolio with immediate effect," the President's Media Division said in a statement.

The Deputy Minister was sacked in accordance with the power vested in the President by the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of. Sri Lanka, under the clause 46 (3) (a). The decision will take effect from today (12).

Arundika Fernando was elected to Parliament from the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) from the Puttalam District in the August 2015 General Election.
