Sept 06, Colombo: The United National Party is dedicated to fulfill the aspirations of its supporters during the next two years, Leader of the Party, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said.

He made these remarks at the Party Headquarters Sirikotha this morning, after participating at the religious observances held to mark the 71st anniversary celebration of the UNP.

The Premier said the unity government, which was set up under the leadership of President Maithripala Sirisena carried out many development activities during the past two and half years. Generating 400,000 jobs, beginning the construction of 200, 000 houses, reducing the fuel price by 22 percent, giving an allowance of Rs. 20, 000 for pregnant mothers, increasing the salary of Public Sector employees by Rs. 10, 000, and reducing hard core crimes by 30 percent are some of them.

The incumbent leader of the UNP, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has already completed the crafting of all plans to carry forward the country to digital education grooming a production investment economy devoid of a debt ridden economy, while generating one million jobs.

The United National Party is fully geared to building the Financial City composed of a broad medium class. The Party on the day of the commemoration of its 71st Anniversary is determined to building a new Sri Lanka in the coming 20 years.

The main convention of the anniversary celebration of the UNP will be held in Ratnapura next Sunday. The Premier said that the party supporters will be apprised on the past as well as the future programs carried out by the party at that meeting.

Premier Wickremesinghe also invoked blessings on the former leaders of the party.
