Sept 06, Colombo: Leader of the House, Minister Lakshman Kiriella told Parliament today that government has no plans to prosecute or imprison any military commander.

Responding to a question raised under a standing order regarding the allegations against former Army Commander Jagath Jayasuriya, Minister Kiriella said the statements voiced by Minister of Regional Development Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka with regard to the former Army Commander, is his personal opinion and does not reflect any government stance.

He further said that the present government will not imprison any military commander as the previous administration has done.
