* Sri Lanka Army hands over school in Jaffna occupied by forces during war

Sept 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka Army has handed over a school in Jaffna which was occupied by the security forces during the war and held afterwards to the civil authorities.

Commander Security Force (Jaffna) Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi handed over the building of Urani Kanista Vidyalaya and the surrounding land in Urani to the Additional District Secretary Jaffna by, on 4 September 2017 in view of facilitating the education of children in the area.

The ceremony was held with the participation of Major General Mervyn Perera, General Officer Commanding 51 Division, Mr. S Muralitharan, Additional District Secretary Land, Mr. S Sivasri, Divisional Secretary of the Thelippalai, Officials of the Educational Department in Jaffna, Senior Military Officers, soldiers and civilians.
