* Rice at wholesale prices from Sathosa outlets

Oct 20, Colombo: Consumers are able to buy rice at the wholesale price through the Sathosa outlets island-wide, Sathosa Chairman T.M.K.B. Tennakoon said.

The official has said the decision was taken with the intention of reducing the cost of living of the people and the retail vendors will also be able to get this opportunity without middlemen.

Accordingly, a kilo of white kekulu will be sold at Rs. 64 by any Sathosa outlet while Nadu rice will be sold at Rs. 73, Samba rice at Rs. 80, and broken rice at Rs. 80.

The Sathosa Chairman further said that they would take steps to sell several other essential items such as sprats, canned fish, onion, and potato too at the wholesale price in the future through 370 Sathosa outlets island wide.
