* Director of MP Namal Rajapaksa's company arrested at airport on money laundering charges

Oct 10, Colombo: Sri Lankan authorities today arrested the director of a company owned by MP Namal Rajapaksa at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake this morning.

Immigration and Emigration officers arrested Ornella Iresha Silva on charges of money laundering when she arrived in the country from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates this morning. She was later handed over to the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) officers at the airport.

Ornella Iresha Silva is alleged of violating the Money Laundering Act and misappropriating 30 million rupees through MP Namal Rajapaksa's Gowers Corporate Services (Pvt) Limited.

The Colombo High Court issued an international arrest warrant through Interpol for the arrest of Oranella Iresha Silva yesterday.

Colombo High Court Judge Piyasena Ranasinghe made the order yesterday considering the facts presented by Attorney General that the suspect had left the country and absconding since the inception of inquiry into the case.
