Mon, Oct 9, 2017, 10:09 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 09, Colombo: No decision has been taken as a government to increase fuel prices says Minister of Petroleum Resources Development Arjuna Ranatunga.

Minister Arjuna Ranatunga said this in Parliament today (October 09) in response to a query raised under the Standing Order 23 (2) regarding the increase of fuel prices.

"Raising fuel price is not something to be done right now, we have no decision as a government, we are discussing a pricing formula for several years, and I will inform about the losses we incurred due to the relief provided to the public," he said.

The Minister also stressed that there are no plans to privatize the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC). He added that it is his stance that as a country, strengthening the CPC is a responsibility of the country.
