* Transparency International Sri Lanka relaunches Right to Information website
Mon, Oct 9, 2017, 12:22 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 09, Colombo: The anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) has launched a sleek remodel of the RTIwatch.LK website in the presence of donors, citizens, notable government and NGO partners at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations and Strategic Studies on 28th September 2017.

In the context of recently introduced Right to Information legislation in the country, the website aims to facilitate a greater number of Right to Information (RTI) requests from the public as well as provide information on the law surrounding this area.

Speakers at the event representing TISL included Executive Director Asoka Obeyesekere and RTI Manager Sankhitha Gunaratne, along with the National Organizer from Sarvodaya-Deshodaya, Nishantha Preethiraj, a pivotal partner in taking RTI to the masses through the operation of RTI mobile clinics around the country.

The launch set the stage for the premier of Sri Lanka's first short film on RTI, as well as concluded a five district tour undertaken by the RTI van together with the partner organization. The event also commemorated International Right to Know Day, dedicated to increasing access to information to all peoples in the hopes of ensuring open and accountable governments.
