* Ugandan woman smuggling heroin arrested at Sri Lanka airport

Oct 08, Colombo: An Ugandan national has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport for smuggling over 500 grams of heroin.

Acting Customs Media Spokesman, Additional Director General of Customs Dharmasena Kahadawa said the 43 year old Ugandan woman was arrested at the Katunayake Airport Sunday (08) for illegally transporting 505 grams of heroin worth Rs. 5 million.

The suspected woman has come from Uganda through Dubai on the Fly Dubai flight of FZ 547.

The Customs Narcotics Bureau officials have found the heroin stock concealed in a wallet in her handbag.

The Airport Customs has launched an investigation into the incident.
