Oct 08, Visakhapatnam: Sri Lanka's national carrier, SriLankan Airlines has opened a sales office in Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh of India.
Chief Commercial Officer, Sri Lankan Airlines, Siva Ramachandran on Saturday inaugurated the Sri Lankan Airlines Office (City Sales Office), located at Siripuram area in Visakhapatnam, Deccan Chronicle reported.
SriLankan Airlines, the largest foreign airline operating to India, commenced operations to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh from 8 July 2017.
Mr Ramachandran said that focusing on India as a special market, SriLankan Airlines started services to Vizag city a few months back and the response was good.
"Vizag is an important market for us and the new office of Sri Lankan Airlines in Vizag city will cater to the requirements of the Vizagites, who planned to visit Sri Lanka and other places," Mr Ramachandran said.
The overall load factor on some Indian routes is still running close to 90 percent while some witnessed more than that, he added.
The Sri Lankan Airlines are also offering packages for holiday travel linking Colombo, Maldives and Seychelles and other destinations such as Europe, Dubai, London and few others. Sources said that the airlines is looking at associating with some destinations marketing companies in India for the promotion of backwater tourism.
