* Sathosa to begin selling rice at concessionary prices from today

Oct 04, Colombo: The state-owned retail network, Lanka Sathosa will commence selling rice at concessionary prices from today with the aim to control the price of rice in the market, the Chairman of Lanka Sathosa MKB Tennakoon said.

Accordingly a kilogram of Nadu rice will be sold at Rs. 74 while a kilogram of White Kekulu rice will be sold at Rs. 65.

The Chairman said 28 Sathosa outlets island wide will sell rice at concessionary rates.

In addition steps have been taken to provide 8 variety of rice at 370 Sathosa outlets under concessionary rates

Accordingly, a kilo of nadu rice will be sold at Rs. 74, Red nadu rice at Rs. 80, white raw rice at Rs. 65, Red raw rice at Rs. 75, samba Rs. 84, and Red samba at Rs. 88,

Consumers can also purchase 5 coconuts for 65 rupees at Sathosa outlets.
