* Police arrest man transporting 5 kg of Kerala Cannabis in a public bus

Nov 19, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police have arrested a man transporting two packages of Kerala Cannabis (Ganja) in a public bus plying from Mullaitivu to Kalpitiya this morning.

On the information received by the intelligence officers of the Puttalam Police, the officers inspected the SLTB bus coming from Mullaitivu near the military camp on the Puttalam-Anuradhapura Road and found the stock of cannabis with the passenger.

The carefully packed two packages of Karla ganja weighing 5 kilograms can be sold on street for Rs. 625,000, the police say.

The 42 year old suspect who is currently a resident of Mullaitivu told the police that he will be paid Rs. 25,000 for taking the two packages to Kalpitiya from Mullaitivu.

The raid was conducted under the direction of Inspector Anura Gunawardena of Puttalam Police.

The suspect was to be produced before Puttalam Magistrate Court today evening.
