* Remembrance Day ceremony held in Colombo

Nov 12, Colombo: The Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony, organized by the Sri Lanka Ex- Servicemen's Association was held at the War Memorial in the Vihara Maha Devi Park in Colombo, yesterday (11th November 2017).

State Minister of Defense Ruwan Wijewardene and Secretary to the Ministry of Defense Kapila Waidyaratne attended the event and paid floral tributes at the monument during the ceremony held under the patronage of the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya. Chief of Defense Staff, tri forces commanders, religious leaders of all faiths and other dignitaries also attended the ceremony.

The Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen's Association also launched a book titled "Foot Prints on the Sand of Time" during the ceremony. This unique publication is a written record of the 70 year history of the Association. At the event several members of the Association were also decorated with special medals in recognition of their volunteer service towards the welfare of the local veteran community.
