* Sri Lanka Navy arrests four Indian fishermen for illegally poaching in Sri Lankan waters

Nov 07, Colombo: Sri Lanka Navy on early Tuesday has arrested 4 Indian fishermen and impounded their fishing trawler for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and fishing in Sri Lankan waters.

A Fast Attack Craft attached to the Northern Naval Command, on routine patrol, apprehended the four Indian fishermen along with the fishing trawler for poaching in the Sri Lankan territorial waters West of Delft Island in the early hours of today (07th November 2017), Navy Media Unit said.

The arrested fishermen were brought to the naval base SLNS Uttara in Kankasanthurai and subsequently handed over to the Assistant Fisheries Director of Jaffna for legal action. The seized trawler and fishing gear were retained at SLNS Elara in Karainagar.
