* Central Bank Bond Commission report handed over to President

Dec 30, Colombo: The final report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) into the Bond Issuance of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has been handed over to President Maithripala Sirisena on Saturday.

The Commissionís Chairman Justice K.T. Chitrasiri handed over the report and two other members of the Commission, Justice P S Jayawardene and retired Deputy Auditor General, V Kandasamy were present together with the Secretary to the Commission, S Udugamsuriya.

Secretary to the President, Austin Fernando was also present on this occasion.

The President appointed the Commission of Inquiry on 27th January to investigate, inquire into and report on the Issuance of Treasury Bonds during the period 01st February 2015 to 31st March, 2016. The Commission was headed by the Supreme Court Judge KK Chithrasiri.

The period of the Commission has been extended several times with the last extension up to 31st December for rendition of the final report of the Commission on completion of the assigned tasks.

The President will hand over the bond report to the Attorney General's Department for legal action.
