Sat, Dec 30, 2017, 11:16 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Dec 30 Colombo: The Commissioner General of Educational Publication I.M.K.B. Illangasinghe denied the rumor that Ministry of Education is taking steps to sell school text books printed by the government.

The Commissioner pointed out that various parties raise allegations that text books are being sold without any inquiry and based on the provocations by certain groups.

Mr. Illangasinghe said the Department has taken steps to print over Rs. 3 billion worth of text books this year and most of the copies of the text books except for few have been received. The Department has taken steps to distribute the text books to the students before the school year starts next week.

He added that a few text books of the printing order are yet to be received due to the busy schedule at the Printing Department, but all books will be distributed among the students as soon as possible.
