* Two foreign nationals drown in sea in Sri Lanka

Dec 29, Colombo: Two foreigners have been drowned in two separate incidents in the seas off Koggala and Thalpe in Habaraduwa Friday morning, the Habaraduwa Police said.

A 67-year-old Dutch woman was rescued by the life guards when she was being pulled by the strong currents in the seas off Koggala beach while bathing. However, the victim has died on admission to hospital.

In another incident a 53-year-old tourist from Poland was rescued by the residents when he was drowning in the seas of Thalpe area of Habaraduwa. However, he too has died upon admission to the hospital, Habaraduwa Police said.

The autopsies of the two victims were performed at the Karapitiya Hospital today, the Police said.
