* Sri Lanka Transport Board deploys over 700 additional buses to facilitate commuter transport

Dec 11, Colombo: The Sri Lanka Transport Board says that more than 700 additional buses have been added to the service today due to the ongoing train strike.

The Deputy General Manager R.R.T Chandrasiri said buses have been deployed to all the areas from Colombo.

According to the official, usually 5700 buses are deployed on a routine basis daily. Since the school vacations have commenced from today, 750 school buses and 60 long distance and luxury buses will be deployed in view of the railway strike, he added.

Railway season ticket holders and passengers who have reserved train tickets will be able to travel in these buses free of charge.

Students sitting for the GCE ordinary level examination which is due to commence tomorrow will be able to travel in any bus including private buses by producing their season ticket.
