* Court extends interim injunction on taking legal action against Gotabhaya Rajapaksa till 15th
Wed, Dec 6, 2017, 02:06 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Dec 06, Colombo: The Court of Appeal today extended the interim injunction issued earlier preventing police from taking legal actions against former Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa under Public Property Act until December 15.

An Appeal Court bench comprising Judges LTB Dehideniya and Shiran Gunaratne extended the stay order issued on 29 November when they considered the writ petition filed by Gotabhaya Rajapaksa today.

When the petition was called today, the State Counsel appearing for the Attorney General stated that the petitioner had obtained the injunction by submitting misleading information.

The State Counsel requested the court to grant him permission to present the facts.

The judges also pointed out that they need time to study the objections raised by the respondents in the case.

Accordingly the court postponed the case until 15th December and extended the stay order until then.
