* Five arrested for treasure hunting in Oddusudan Forest Reserve

Dec 03, Colombo: Five persons have been arrested while excavating for artefacts in the Oddusudan Wasamemuththiyankattu Forest Reserve, the Police said.

The suspects were arrested during a raid by the officers of the Mullaitivu Division anti-corruption unit acting on a tip-off.

Along with the arrests, the police recovered a compass, two iron bars, seven copper plates and several religious artefacts in the possession of the suspects.

The suspects aged 63, 70, 34, 46, 67, are residents of Ambepussa, Kilinochchi and Mankulam.

Oddusudan Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
