* New Justice Minister of Sri Lanka vows not to send any war hero to international courts

Aug 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka's new Minister of Justice and Foreign Employment Thalatha Athukorala today said that no war hero, who saved this country will be sent to international courts.

Minister Atukorala was speaking at a media conference after assuming duties as the new Minister of Justice today at the Justice Ministry.

"The President and the Prime Minister have placed an enormous trust in me and I have been entrusted with this responsibility. I will carry out my responsibility with the best of my ability," she assured.

The Minister said she has to work in a very controversial environment and she is committed to protect the independence of the judiciary.

"However, I will not give any room to anybody to prosecute our war heroes who have protected this country in a foreign court or punish them," the minister stressed.
