* Police arrest two suspects transporting illegally imported cigarettes

Aug 20, Colombo: Officers of Meerigama police have arrested two suspects in Kaleliya area of Nittambuwa-Meerigama Road for transporting a stock of illegally imported cigarettes in a van.

The police acting on a tip-off arrested the two suspects who were in the possession of 170,000 illegal cigarettes imported duty-free.

The arrested suspects are 35 and 57-year old residents of Mattakkuliya and Nittambuwa.

They are due to be presented before the Attanagalla magistrate's court today.

Meerigama Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
