* Government assistance and aid to uplift bricklaying industry in the South

Aug 19, Colombo: The government has taken measures to provide knowledge and financial aid to the people employed in bricklaying in Tangalle to uplift the industry in the deep south.

A program was held in Tangalle on the 17th August on the bricklaying industry to enlighten those who are keen on joining the industry.

This event was held by the Coordinating Secretary of the State Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resource Ravindu Wedaarachchi and the Hambantota District Director of the Ministry of Industries and Commerce S W Rajapaksa.

Accordingly, these self-employed persons were educated on how to work more effectively in this industry and earn more income by doing this brick-making industry as a self-employment venture.

After this awareness program, measures have been taken to provide financial assistance to the people who are willing to engage in the brick-making industry as a self-employment and who are currently engaged in the industry.

Accordingly, the self-employed persons were educated on how to work more effectively in this industry and earn more income by engaging in the bricklaying industry as a self-employment venture.

More than 150 people, including over 60 people who wanted to join the brick making industry as a self-employed in the Tangalle division, were present at the event.

Steps have been taken to provide financial assistance to these self-employed persons through the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
