* SLFP not afraid of elections - Minister Mahinda Amaraweera

Aug 13, Colombo: Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, the General Secretary of the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) of which, Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is the main constituent, says the party is not afraid of elections.

Speaking at the Galle District SLFP Federation held yesterday under his patronage, Minister Amaraweera said a rumor was spreading that they fear the elections but they do not fear to face any elections.

Measures have been taken to hold an election before the end of this year, and the central committee of the SLFP has decided to hold the provincial council elections this year without delay. The Minister added that they will contest under the SLFP.
