* Special police unit set up to obtain information on organized crimes

Aug 13, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police have set up a special operational center at the premises of Special Task Force of Police to obtain information with regard to drug trafficking, organized crimes and other criminal activities.

The special unit set up for the public to lodge complaints and provide tip-offs pertaining to narcotics and organized crimes will be operational round the clock.

The hotline numbers are 0112 58 05 18, 0112 05 85 52 and 0112 08 10 40.

In addition to these numbers the people can also communicate the unit by faxing the messages to 0112 08 10 44 or 0112 58 84 99.

The police said the anonymity of those who provide information via phone will be protected. The Police also said those who provide accurate information will receive monetary rewards.
