* 20th Annual Bakeer Markar Commemoration Lecture today

Aug 08, Colombo: The 20th Annual Bakeer Markar Commemoration Lecture will be delivered today (August 08) at the BMICH by the former Prime Minister of Turkey, Prof. Ahmet Davutoglu. He will speak on the theme of "Multiculturalism as a Basis for Peace".

The annual lectures organized by the Bakeer Markar Centre for National Unity focuses on fostering national unity and encouraging fresh thinking on unity in diversity, which are key areas the late Deshamanya M. A. Bakeer Markar sincerely dedicated himself to.

Professor Davutoglu, a former Foreign Minister of Turkey, has been considered as among "100 Leading Global Leaders" by the Foreign Policy Magazine in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

During his visit, Prof. Davutoglu is expected to meet with senior government officials and will take part in a Youth Dialogue organized by the Adhil Bakeer Markar Foundation.
