* Sri Lankan worker in South Korea killed in a workplace accident

Aug 07, Colombo: A Sri Lankan national working in South Korea has died in an accident at work, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment said.

The deceased, 35-year-old Charm Soumya Palitha, a resident of Kegalle, was a migrant worker employed in a factory in Daegu city in South Korea.

The Sri Lankan worker was injured when he got caught in a threading machine at work and died upon admission to the hospital.

He has gone to South Korea in 2008 and had been working illegally after his visa expired, the Bureau of Foreign Employment said.
