Mar 19, Chennai: The pro-LTTE Tamil Nadu political leader, the general secretary of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), V. Goplasamy aka Vaiko has been arrested along with his followers when they attempt to beiege Sri Lanka's Deputy High Commission in Chennai o Saturday.
Chennai police arrested the MDMK general secretary and his followers along with trade union leader T. Vellaiyan when they started a protest march and proceeded towards the Sri Lankan mission from Valluvar Kottam, the local media reported.
Earlier, a group of workers from the MDMK Party, along with their chief Vaiko, protested and demanded the Indian government to raise the issue of Sri Lankan Tamils at the 34th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHCRC).
Carrying placards, the protestors shouted slogans at the protest held in Valluvar Kottam, ANI reported.
Addressing the protesters, Vaiko said the United States would bring a resolution giving two more years for Sri Lanka to hold an inquiry into the war crimes and the resolution also says that no international jurists could enter the island nation without the latter’s consent.
