Mar 18, Chennai: The pro-LTTE Tamil Nadu political leader, the general secretary of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), V. Goplasamy aka Vaiko has demanded India to oppose the UN draft resolution on Sri Lanka.

A group of workers from the MDMK Party, along with their chief Vaiko, protested and demanded the Indian government to raise the issue of Sri Lankan Tamils at the 34th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHCRC).

Carrying placards, the protestors shouted slogans at the protest held in Valluvar Kottam, ANI reported.

They also urged the Government to oppose the draft resolution put forward by Sri Lanka at the UNHRC Council recently.

In the resolution, Sri Lanka requested more time to fully implement the recommendations in the HRC30/1 resolution which was co-sponsored by Sri Lanka and adopted by the UNHRC at the 30th session in October 2015.
