* Sri Lankan President to visit Russia, sign agreements on several key sectors

Mar 15, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena is scheduled to pay an official visit to Russia from March 22-25 on an invitation from his Russian counterpart President Vladimir Putin.

President's visit is expected to increase trade and economic ties with Russia as the two countries celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations.

During the President's visit, several agreements between Sri Lanka and Russia on Cooperation in Fisheries Sector, Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation, Cooperation in Combating Crimes and Fostering Police Assistance, and the Protocol on Cooperation in Cultural Sector will be signed.

Cabinet of Ministers has given approval to sign the agreements between Sri Lanka and Russia on cooperation in fisheries sector during the President's visit, the Government Information Department said.
