* Sri Lanka's all-rounder Thisara Perera takes blow to head

June 11, Colombo: Sri Lanka's all-rounder Thisara Perera was hit by a ball on the head during practice at Cardiff yesterday (10) ahead of the all-important ICC Championship Trophy game against Pakistan tomorrow (12), Sri Lanka Cricket said.

"In a most fortunate turn of events, there has been no serious injury and although under careful observation there is currently no complaint related to head injury, with only reports of tenderness in the area of impact," the SLC said in a statement.

Sri Lanka Cricket said he will continue to be kept under strict medical observation.

Sri Lanka faces Pakistan tomorrow with a depleted team of experienced players. Chamara Kapugedara and, Kusal Perera have also been sidelined due to injury and Upul Tharanga is unavailable as he remains suspended.
