* Kavan Ratnayaka appointed to head Sri Lanka Tourist Development Authority

July 14, Colombo: Chairman of the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. (ANCL) Kavan Ratnayaka has been appointed the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

Kavan is the elder brother of Minister of Law and Order Sagala Ratnayaka.

He was appointed as the Chairman of Lake House in January 2015.

He was the Chief Corporate Officer of Cargills PLC and the Chief Corporate Officer of Dialog Axiata. Before that Ratnayaka was the Chief Executive Officer of Dialog Broadband Networks. He was also the Country General Manager of IBM from 1998 to 2007.

An old boy of Royal College Colombo, Ratnayaka holds a Bachelor of Science (physics) from the University of California.

Kavan Ratnayaka will assume duties in his new post on Monday (17).
