* Government, private media institutions to launch joint national dengue prevention program today

July 12, Colombo: A national level dengue control program, organized by the Ministry of Finance and Mass Media jointly with private media organizations will commence today.

The program under the theme "Let's start ourselves - Join to eradicate dengue" is being launched this morning in collaboration with all media institutions, mobile phone operators and the Ministry of Health.

In the first stage all electronic media institutions in the country will broadcast live programs in all three languages from 9 am to 11 am. The programs will showcase the importance of keeping home gardens and surrounding environment clean to eradicate dengue.

This will be coordinated by the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation. Programs in Tamil language carrying the message of the importance of dengue eradication to the masses will be broadcast on the ITN.

The second phase of this program will be held on Saturday from 9.00 am to 11.00 am. The 2nd phase will focus on cleaning up the environment and the working places during that time.

Another program to clean schools and its surroundings will be implemented on the 19th of July.
