* Law and Order Minister visits police and STF officers injured during clash at Hambantota

Jan 09, Colombo: Minister of Law, Order, and Southern Development Sagala Ratnayake on Saturday looked into the health condition of the police and the STF officers, who were injured during the Hambantota protest and admitted to Hambantota hospital.

The Minister was accompanied by IGP Pujith Jayasundara.

People protesting the inauguration of the Sri Lanka - China Logistic and Industrial Zone on Saturday in Hambantota despite a court order clashed with the police. The clashes reportedly injured 23 people including 11 law enforcement personnel.

Police have arrested 52 persons for staging a protest in violation of a court order and damaging public property.
