Apr 26, New Delhi: Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is visiting India from April 26-29, called on the Indian national Congress Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi today.

The Congress Party leader said that her party is constantly striving towards strengthening the historical ties between India and Sri Lanka, assisting Sri Lanka with its development process and upholding regional democracy.

Attention was focused on Sri Lanka's development activities and its progress, as well as on the region's political and social trends during the meeting.

Former Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was also present at the occasion.
