* Sri Lanka's coal power plant in Norochcholai breaks down

Apr 17, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant in Norochcholai broke down today due to a failed generator the Ceylon Electricity Board said.

A power generator in the first phase of the 900 Mw power plant has malfunctioned due to a technical failure in a boiler, according to Power and Energy Ministry.

However, the malfunction does not affect the overall national power supply, a Ministry official said.
