Apr 16, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena says the universality of love as celebrated by Christians during Easter continues to be the cardinal factor for the world's existence.

Issuing a message for Easter he added that love, the gift of God dawns upon humanity through Easter.

Following is the full text of the message by President Sirisena:

Jesus's unique sacrifice to liberate the poor from sin lives forever in Easter.

Christians world over who celebrate Easter mark the greatness of Jesus's sacrifice to realise divinity by transcending humanity.

Jesus who was so munificent to sacrifice his precious life for the sake of his people, preached to mankind that though one's life could be brought to an end, it cannot be defeated and that divine love is invincible.

The universality of love as celebrated by Christians during Easter continues to be the cardinal factor for the world's existence. Love, the gift of God dawns upon humanity through Easter.

May Easter bestow divine blessings on all Christians.
