* Funeral of former Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake with full state honors

Dec 27, Colombo: President Maithripala Sirisena has given instructions to conduct the funeral of the former Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake with full state honors.

The 83-year-old former Prime Minister passed away today after a brief illness.

Upon learning of the former Prime Minister's death, the President has instructed the relevant sections to make all the necessary arrangements for the funeral to be held with state honors, the President's Media Division said.

At the time of his death Mr. Ratnasiri Wickremanayake was serving as a Senior Advisor to the President.

Body of the late Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake will be brought to the Parliament tomorrow. Speaker Karu Jayasuriya requests all parliamentarians to come to the parliament between 10.30 and 11.30 a.m. to pay their last respects. Thereafter, the remains of late Mr. Wickremanayake will be taken his residence in Horana.
