* Chief Prelate of Asgiriya Chapter passes away

Mar 09, Kandy: The Chief Prelate (Mahanayake) of the Asgiriya Chapter Venerable Galagama Attadassi Thera has passed away today while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Kandy Hospital.

The Venerable Thera was hospitalized in an unconscious state after a fall in the Temple this evening, hospital sources said.

The 93-year old Thera was appointed as the 21st Chief Prelate (Mahanayake} of the Asgiriya Chapter on May 8, 2015 following the death of Chief Prelate Most Venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Thera on April 8, 2015.
